James and Shawn recount their disastrous attempt at a first episode and their efforts to book guests. James plays a phone call of one such attempt to book a big named guest for the show.
Bill Gates, the world's richest geek, (yeah Buffet and Slim are not geeks) retires from Microsoft (Not Really..)James points out an error made in reporting the history of Microsoft by AFP in a June 26, 2008, article.
While questioning the computer literacy of Steve Balmer, Shawn points out that John McCain is computer illiterate and at a political forum, documented by Politico Blogger Ben Smith, McCain aide Mark Soohoo said ""John McCain is aware of the Internet," then adds, "This is a man who has a very long history of understanding on a range of issues."
Video Game Camp - While working at his real job James discovered this feature story by the Columbus Dispatch in Ohio, Game Camp USA gives kids from 10-17 the experience of designing a video game over the course of 2 weeks.
James questions whether or not the Kids are really going to have their expectations of the video game industry met. Shawn brings up a story on industry website Gamasutra which discusses the industry's last minute crunch to get a video game out on deadline and the excessive hours that are put in at the end.
Market research firm DFC Intelligence reports the Video Game Market is expected to reach 57 billions dollars in revenue by 2009.
Shawn's wife Michelle reviews Mario Party DS in a segment he calls "The Video Game My Wife is Addicted to This Week."
In another segment of the show titled "Geek of the Week," James picks a trio of video gamers who played a live streaming marathon session of 7 Mario games on the Wii to raise almost $11,000 dollars for Penny Arcade's charity Child's Play.
